CURITIBA, Brazil: Neodent, a leading Brazilian dental implant company that is part of the Straumann Group, launched a new dental implant system on 31 March. The new product, named Zi, uses zirconia, which is known for extraordinary strength and aesthetics. The global launch of Zi was celebrated at a virtual event that attracted 1,600 viewers from 92 countries.

“Over six years ago, we started dreaming: we decided to create not just a new ceramic implant; we decided to do something innovative and completely different,” said Neodent CEO Matthias Schupp at the opening of the event, which featured a series of lectures on the latest trends in implant dentistry.

Among the speakers were digital technology expert Andrea Iorio, who elaborated on the latest consumer trends and how they are shaping the industry, and Drs Eric Rompen, Paul Petrungaro and Federico Mandelli, who shared their experiences with the Zi implant system. During the launch, Dr Geninho Thomé, the founder of Neodent, performed a live surgery demonstrating the benefits of Zi.

Zi combines the properties of flexibility, stability and aesthetics. Flexibility is provided by the two-piece connection solution, designed with a longer screw, which provides a secure fit between the implant and the zirconia abutment. This also improves the performance of the zirconia and optimises the distribution of force along the internal connection. The connection has six lugs and six points, allowing the precise positioning of the abutment and protecting against rotation. The naturally tapered zirconia design allows for optimal stability, engineered for predictable immediacy in all bone types.
